General Program Information
- What is the EMC Velocity² Technology and ISV Program?
The Velocity² Technology and ISV Program helps to provide a consistent interface between technology companies and multiple EMC business units. The program comprises a base program and four specialty programs.
The base program provides convenient online access to EMC technical, marketing, and support information—along with program office support—in defining potential partner synergies and navigating EMC's organizations.
The integration level of the base program provides more in-depth technical information for partners wishing to integrate and leverage EMC product application programming interfaces (APIs) and providers that are not currently available through a specialty program such as EMC Symmetrix, EMC CLARiiON, and EMC AVALONidm.
Specialty programs provide opportunities to create additional synergy between your offerings and focused EMC technology areas. These programs include API access and varying degrees of development, certification, and marketing support based on the membership level you obtain.
- How do I apply to the program?
Simply complete the online application.
- Can I join multiple specialty programs?
Yes, you may return to the online application to join as many programs as necessary.
- Is the Velocity² Technology and ISV Program available worldwide?
- Do I need to join the base program before joining a specialty program?
No, when you join a specialty program you are automatically enrolled in the base program.
- If I joined a specialty program prior to the conception of the base program is there any benefit in joining the base program also?
Yes, the base program can assist you in defining other potential, mutually beneficial business and/or engineering relationships. Also, the base program offers benefits and program office services not available through the specialty programs. Remember that the specialty programs are product-specific programs whereas the base program is an EMC-wide program.
- What are the requirements to join the base program or a specialty program?
At a minimum, candidates must agree to program terms and conditions to be considered for membership. We look for technology partners that can add value to the growing portfolio of EMC products and services and their end users.
- Is there a cost to join the base program or the specialty programs?
There is no initial cost to join any of these programs. For specialty programs, there may be annual membership fees for partners who choose to move up membership tiers. Please check the specialty program data sheets and specialty FAQs below for more information on membership fees.
- I am already working closely with an EMC business unit. Do I need to join the program?
While not mandatory, we recommend applying to the program to provide consistent access to a broad range of benefits that may be in addition to those available to you through your current relationship.
- I want to get involved in an EMC technology area that is not currently listed as a specialty program. What do I do?
EMC intends to announce additional specialty programs in the near future. We recommend that you contact the Base Program Office, and we will put you in touch with people working in that area.
- I am an existing member of an EMC technology partner program. How does this program affect me?
All existing technology partner programs are being consolidated under the EMC Velocity² Technology and ISV program. You may remain in your current program with current benefits or, ideally, elect to join the new program.
- What if my offering is competitive with EMC's products?
The degree of potential competitiveness is not a significant evaluation factor when we look at potential partners. Instead, we look for uniqueness of solution, depth of integration, ability to exploit EMC product functionality, and potential customer demand from EMC's customer base.
- What sort of joint marketing benefits are available? Can I gain access to EMC's sales force?
Joint marketing benefits are associated with the individual specialty programs, and the degree of collaboration and joint marketing is determined by the respective specialty program owners.
- How does this relate to EMC Select?
EMC Select is EMC's program that resells complementary solutions as part of an overall customer solution. The two programs are independent. You can access information regarding EMC Select through the EMC Powerlink partner portal.
- Does the EMC program cover VMware?
No, VMware is as an independent business that runs its own partner programs. For more information, visit www.vmware.com.

- What are APIs and what APIs are available to partners through the Smarts Specialty?
APIs are software interfaces that enable products to work together by defining a common mechanism for the exchange of data and status and control information. Members of the Smarts Specialty may license EMC Smarts implementations of the following interfaces for developing their applications:
- EMC Smarts APIs — Leverage the powerful Smarts architecture in which customers can use Smarts as an event management system, as manager of managers, or to provide additional root cause based on events generated or data collected by another system. Smarts APIs make it simple to forward events to Smarts applications and forward Smarts notifications or discovery results to other applications.
You can also provide topology and management data to the Smarts analysis server, launch in-context tools that run on the user client or server, add information to the Smarts repository to augment the richness of data available, and extract information from the Smarts repository to seed other applications. APIs include ASL, C, Command Line Interface (CLI), Java, and Perl.
- EMC Smarts adapters — Provide interoperability between your applications and Smarts applications such as Email Notification Adapter, Log file Adapter, Script Adapter, SNMP Trap Adapter, SNMP Trap Notification Adapter, SQL Adapter for Windows, Syslog Adapter, and XML Adapter.
